The Hove Beach & Street Clean, Actually

The Pelican on Portland are thrilled to announce their involvement in the forthcoming “Hove Beach and Street Clean, Actually”.  This fantastic all day event is run by  The Brighton and Hove Eco Dinner Club, Freegle, Surfers against Sewage and of course us here at the Pelican.

Our intention is to address the marine, park and street litter that blights our daily lives and highlight the opportunities to be had from collecting and recycling this litter.

We will meet at the Pelican on Portland from 10.30 for a briefing on safety and the route from 10.55 and then undertake a circular route onto the seafront and back up to the Pelican for a High tide tea at 3pm. We will stop at Beach Hut no. 411 at 12.30 for sandwiches (please provide your own) and a cup of tea or coffee.

Timetable:

Meet from 10.30 at Pelican on Portland for briefing at 10.55
11.00 – start the street clean on Coleman Avenue
11.15 – progress to Wish park and clean the East side of the park
11.45 – arrive at Hove Lagoon and progress on to the Beach Clean and continue westwards
12.30 -1.30 stop for a lunch break at Beach Hut 411
1.30 pm – Leave 411 clean up the west side of hove lagoon
1.45 pm progress on to Saxon Road and clean up the West side of Wish Park
2.00 – 2.45pm continue onto Portland Avenue, Mansfield and Woodhouse roads and finish on Portland Road at the Pelican on Portland.
2.45pm -all collected litter to be deposited at Studio Loo: 201 Portland Road, Hove, East Sussex: BN3 5JA:
3pm – “High Tide Tea” at Portland on Pelican – hot or cold beverage (tea or Americano) with home-made cake (£4 per head)

Please bring your own gloves and litter pickers if you can, we will supply them if you haven’t got them.
